Brothers and Sisters of the Georgia VFW,
I am deeply humbled and honored to have been elected as your Georgia VFW State Commander for the 2025 – 2026 term. Your trust and confidence mean the world to me, and I promise to dedicate every effort to uphold the values and mission of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Together, we stand united by service and sacrifice, and it is in that unity that we find our greatest strength.
Reflecting on the path that brought me here, I am reminded of the extraordinary spirit that defines our great organization. We come from diverse backgrounds, generations, and conflicts, yet we are bound by the shared commitment to serve, support, and defend. Whether in moments of triumph or times of challenge, we have always stood shoulder to shoulder, proving that the bond of military service extends far beyond our time in uniform.
My journey to this moment has been guided by mentors, comrades, and the countless members who give selflessly to our Posts and communities. Often unseen but always deeply felt, your dedication is the lifeblood of our organization. From organizing Buddy Poppy drives and community service projects to supporting our Veterans in need, your efforts embody the very heart of the VFW. It is your passion and commitment that inspire me to lead with humility, resolve, and an unwavering focus on our shared mission.
As we embark on this new chapter together, I want to express my deepest gratitude to every member of the Georgia VFW and our Auxiliary, from our newest recruits to our most senior life members. Your confidence in me is not just an honor; it is a responsibility I embrace wholeheartedly. I promise to listen to your concerns, champion your ideas, and work tirelessly to ensure our organization remains strong, relevant, and united.
This year, my motto is TEAMWORK because everyone achieves more when working together – VFW and our Auxiliary. It is through teamwork that we can strengthen our Posts, engage younger Veterans, expand community outreach, and advocate more effectively for Veterans’ benefits and services. By supporting one another and sharing our unique skills and experiences, we ensure that no Veteran ever stands alone.
Our work ahead will focus on several key areas:
- Growing our membership and welcoming the next generation of Veterans and their immediate families into our ranks.
- Enhancing programs that address critical issues such as PTSD, TBI, Female Veterans, and Veteran homelessness.
- Deepening our partnerships with other Veteran Service Organizations, local communities, schools, and civic organizations.
- Preserving and honoring our shared legacy while ensuring we remain forward-looking and adaptable.
I know the challenges we face are real, but so too is our resolve. Throughout our history, the Veterans of Foreign Wars has been a powerful advocate, a comforting hand, and a voice for those who have borne the battle. As your State Commander, I am committed to making sure Georgia remains a leader in that proud tradition.
In closing, I offer my heartfelt thanks once again for the faith you have placed in me. Together, let us reaffirm our deep dedication to the core values that define the Veterans of Foreign Wars: loyalty, service, sacrifice, and camaraderie. Let us stand united, Veterans helping Veterans, so that every service member and their family knows they are never forgotten.
