Georgia VFW Congratulates 2026 Election Winners

On behalf of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Georgia State Legislative Team, congratulations to everyone elected or re-elected to public office during the 2026 midterm elections. Whether preparing to serve for the first time or returning for another term, you have earned the opportunity and responsibility to represent your communities. We wish you success as you begin the work ahead.

Seeking public office requires time, determination, and a willingness to hear different perspectives. We also thank all candidates who participated in the election process, along with the election workers, volunteers, and voters who helped make that process possible. Public service depends on people willing to participate, listen, and contribute to the future of their communities.

Working Together for Veterans

With the election behind us, our message to Georgia’s elected officials is straightforward: the Georgia VFW is ready to work with you. Across party lines and at every level of government, we welcome opportunities to build relationships and advance practical solutions for veterans, service members, and their families.

Georgia is home to nearly 700,000 veterans. They live in our largest cities, our smallest towns, and communities throughout the state. They are neighbors, parents, employees, business owners, volunteers, and community leaders. Their military experiences differ, but each deserves the opportunity to access earned benefits, receive needed support, and build a stable future after service.

Their families are part of that conversation, too. Spouses, children, and caregivers often share the demands of military life and the challenges that can follow. When elected officials consider policies affecting veterans, we encourage them to recognize the broader family needs connected to those decisions.

The Georgia VFW State Legislative Team brings a perspective rooted in service and community involvement. Through our members and local Posts, we hear directly from veterans about the obstacles they encounter and the resources that make a difference. We want to share those experiences with lawmakers and help connect policy discussions with everyday needs.

Our approach is nonpartisan and focused on results. We will work with elected officials of any party who are willing to listen and engage on veterans’ issues. We recognize that lawmakers may disagree about how to address a particular concern. Respectful discussion, reliable information, and a willingness to consider different approaches can help move those conversations forward.

That work includes attention to veterans’ services, access to earned benefits, support for Georgia’s War Veterans Homes, and the resources needed to serve veterans effectively. It also means listening as new concerns emerge. We want to understand where existing programs are working, where gaps remain, and where thoughtful legislative action or better coordination could help.

We recognize that public officials must balance many responsibilities and competing needs. Our role is to be a constructive resource: explaining concerns clearly, offering practical input, and helping evaluate how proposed decisions may affect veterans and their families. We also value opportunities to acknowledge progress and support efforts that are producing meaningful results.

To those taking office for the first time, we welcome the chance to introduce our team and learn more about your priorities and share our priorities. To returning officials, we look forward to continuing existing relationships and building new ones. We invite you to meet with local VFW members, visit a Post, and hear directly from veterans in the communities you represent.

The Road Ahead

Lasting progress requires continued engagement. Our team is committed to staying involved beyond Election Day, maintaining open communication, and following through as proposals move from discussion to action. We hope to build partnerships grounded in mutual respect, shared responsibility, and a clear focus on the people we serve.

Congratulations again to Georgia’s newly elected and returning public officials. Thank you for your willingness to serve. The Georgia VFW State Legislative Team is ready to sit at the table, contribute to the conversation, and help turn shared commitments into meaningful results for veterans and their families.

Let’s begin the conversation. Let’s get to work.

United for veterans. Deeds, Not Words.
