The Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Georgia brought together golfers, veterans, community leaders, and sponsors this past weekend for a powerful day of purpose on the greens. This year’s Georgia VFW Charity Golf Tournament was more than a friendly competition—it was a mission-driven event supporting State Commander Bill Miles’s Special Project: PTSD and TBI Treatment & Awareness.
Hosted at one of Georgia’s premier courses, the Valhalla Golf Course in Helen, Georgia, the tournament delivered a packed day of camaraderie, teamwork, and giving back. Teams teed off early under clear skies, united by a shared commitment to ensuring Georgia veterans receive the care, treatment, and resources they need and deserve.
Supporting State Commander Miles’s Special Project
PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury remain two of the most urgent and life-altering challenges facing America’s veterans. Recognizing the critical need for expanded access to treatment, education, and support, State Commander Bill Miles has made PTSD and TBI treatment and awareness his 2025–2026 Special Project.
The tournament serves as one of the first major fundraising initiatives for this statewide effort, with all proceeds directly supporting programs designed to:
- Expand access to mental health treatment
- Strengthen local veteran support networks
- Increase awareness and education for veterans and families
- Aid long-term recovery and reintegration
“These invisible wounds affect far too many of our veterans,” Commander Miles noted in recent remarks. “Georgia VFW is committed to ensuring every veteran has access to the care they need because no one who served should suffer in silence.”
A Day of Community, Camaraderie, and Purpose
Participants enjoyed a top-tier event experience from beginning to end! Veterans and civilians played side by side, sharing stories and reinforcing the bond between Georgia’s military community and the neighbors who support them.
Local businesses and corporate sponsors stepped up in force, helping fund teams, contribute prizes, and offset event costs so that more proceeds could directly support State Commander Miles’s Special Project.

Continuing the Mission Beyond the Course
The Georgia VFW will continue its statewide focus on PTSD and TBI awareness throughout the year, connecting veterans to care, raising visibility of mental health struggles, and partnering with medical providers, nonprofits, and community leaders across Georgia.
Events like this tournament show what is possible when the community rallies behind a common cause and supports the leadership vision of Commander Miles.
