Let us make Christmas real. Christmas is the spirit of giving without a thought of getting. It is happiness because we see joy in people. It is forgetting self and finding time for others. It is discarding the meaningless and stressing the true values. Let us forever remember and practice the true love shed for us by the one we celebrate at Christmas…. Jesus.

Finding the real joy of Christmas comes not in the hurrying and scurrying to get more done, nor is it found in the purchasing of gifts. We find real joy when we make the Saviour the focus of the season. We can keep Hi in our thoughts and our lives as we go about the work He would have us to perform here on earth. At this time, particularly, let us follow His example as we love and serve our fellowman. It has been said that “True happiness comes only by making others happy”. I pray that the spirit of Christmas the celebration of the birth of the greatest gift of all JESUS should dwell within us all during this special time of year.

However, it is easy to get caught up in the pressure of the season and perhaps loose sight of the very special appreciation and meaning of Christmas. Overdoing it is especially common this time of the year for many of us. The causes for this might include too many Christmas activities to attend, too much to eat, too much money spent too many expectations, and too much tension. Often our efforts at Christmas time result in our feeling stressed out, wrung out and worn out during a time we should feel the simple joys of commemorating the greatest gift of all our Saviour.

I am deeply honored to be your State Jr. Vice Commander. As we step into our pivotal leadership roles, I want to emphasize the importance of communication within our organization and our commitment to being relevant. We have to impact both Veterans and our communities.
We need clear and concise communication with our communities - this is the lifeblood of any successful
organization. Commander Joe Couch recognizes this and is dedicated to fostering an environment where ideas flow freely, questions are encouraged, and collaboration thrives. Regular Post and District meetings, Zoom, and Department General Orders will facilitate this exchange of information works for our members. But, we also have to communicate with our communities in order to stay relevant. Actively engage with local schools, other non-profits, and businesses. You can volunteer, organize events, and participate in community projects. Our presence matters. The Christmas season, with its special meaning and beauty, often prompts a tear, a feeling of joy, and hope and a spirit of giving.

Jesus.

Georgia VFW made a significant statement and even-greater impact at the 2024 North Georgia State Fair, assisting over one hundred veterans and their families. In addition to providing essential support and resources, Georgia VFW's newly revamped booth was recognized as the best in its category by the North Georgia State Fair board. The interactive booth shows our programs and initiatives and offers veterans, families, and community members a welcoming and informative experience. The booth's design and approach earned praise for its inviting and approachable atmosphere. As we celebrate 125 years of the VFW, our efforts at the fair illustrated the strength and success we have for another 125 years.

I am deeply honored to be your State Jr. Vice Commander. As we step into our pivotal leadership roles, I want to emphasize the importance of communication within our organization and our commitment to being relevant. We have to impact both Veterans and our communities.

The Christmas season, with its special meaning and beauty, often prompts a tear, a feeling of joy, and hope and a spirit of giving.

Blending Technology with Tradition

Led by officers from the First District, Georgia VFW used modern technologies such as multimedia slideshows, QR codes, online applications, and even interactive gaming to connect with younger veterans and their families. Since its founding in 1899, the VFW has advocated tirelessly for veterans, and this innovative booth allowed the organization to tell its story in a fresh, engaging way. The booth made it easier for attendees to learn about veterans' benefits and advocacy programs. For those on the go, whether heading to rides, shows, or food stalls, the booth’s tech features offered quick access to crucial information.

The Christmas season, with its special meaning and beauty, often prompts a tear, a feeling of joy, and hope and a spirit of giving.

Jesus.
